The Ministry of Emergency Measures of Ukraine has made decision to forbid any tour and easy approach to Pripyat in so-called "Memory days"
Chernobyl failure was included into modern history as technogenic accident of the world scale. It has changed the attitude of mankind to atomic engineering for ever. Its consequences have deprived the thousands families in Ukraine, Russia, Belarus of their houses. It has ruthlessly divided the life of contemporary people on "to" and "after" life. It has developed so that each of us is involved in this awfull event, after all the contemporary history of our country is a history of its any ordinary inhabitant. Therefore the lessons of Chernobyl, its technical, medical, social and ecological aspects are under constant and steadfast attention of experts-energetikers, scientists and the public.
Within 25 years which have passed from the moment of tragedy, for overcoming of its consequences it is made much: over the destroyed power unit of the Chernobyl atomic power station the object "Shelter" is erected, works on building of new safe confinment which will allow to transform object "Shelter" into ecologically safe system are conducted, the rehabilitation of radiation-polluted earths is carried out. However, the territory of the alienation zone is still unsuitable for constant residing and dangerous for long staying.
Considering special interest of the public, the Ministry of emergency situations of Ukraine and the Ukraine State management and tour agency of an alienation zone has made considerable efforts that all interested persons could have famous Ukraine tour and visit Chernobyl zone.
Unfortunately, recently it was fixed not single cases when visitors of the alienations zone which have got into the territory without persons specially prepared and responsible for it, break the safety rules directed as on preservation of their health and life, and on prevention of distribution of radiating pollution for zone limits.
Radiation has no colour, smell, taste, it is not notable to the touch - and consequently visitors have a deceptive impression of safety. They arrange picnics, consuming food in conditions absolutely unsuitable for this purpose, sit down on the grass, go in open clothes and footwear, even bathe in reservoirs, without understanding, what harm to their health they can cause. Neglecting the danger, visitors of the former city of nuclears - Pripyat, come into houses, rise on rooves, have a good time in small town of attractions - and do not realise that these constructions grow old in due course and are exposed slow, but to imperceptible destruction.
Sadly to recognize, but some persons make frank acts of vandalism in Pripyat, obviously harming a city which simultaneously is both the silent witness, and the direct participant of events of April, 1986. Heaps of garbage, the empty bottles, different stuff are not yet the biggest troubles which are left after themselves by unfortunate visitors.
Comprehensively having analysed a situation, the Ukraine State management agency of alienation zone has made the following decision.
For the purpose of prevention ionising radiation's distribution sources for limits of the alienation zone , and also probable injured people during mass actions on nuclear-polluted territory to forbid in memory days free visiting Pripyat. But we hope that tours to Chernobyl with our tour Company will be renewed as soon as possible.
